"After the big success of LittleBigPlanet which came at the dawn of user generated content era , we embarked on making Dreams . This time we were going to make it a fully deep games creation package covering all disciplines from 3d modelling, animation, logic & music a full media creation beast …and a vibrant social publishing platform.. I personally had the belief that with the Right Creative Tools put in the hands of devoted creators would create games and media that competes with the full bells and whistles of the main stream games development pipelines. The analogy was that throughout history great artists & musicians armed with wholistic and sensitive Tools & instruments like pencils, guitars or pianos enabled them to make diverse personal & timeless work. Games needed and still do different tools , more wholistic , less cumbersome , more sensitive to the individual Expression and idiosyncrasies of its creators. So we did it ! Thanks to the whole of Mediamolecule’s talented team and our unswayable belief. We weren’t trying to chase anything but our un-compromised vision. This dream came true. " One of the closest things to my heart in dreams was how we managed to make it have a unique visual thumbprint with its unique painterly graphics, yet it could achieve such a wide range of looks from the very realistic visuals to the very stylised. Just like one guitar or pencil can have many styles depending on the hands playing / drawing … I Love that. True style is in the hands and souls of the creators. "In 2006 we founded Mediamolecule and set out our mission to be leaders in creative gaming. I was very proud of littleBigPlanets visuals, it had a lot of ingredients that added up to make the magic sauce, The edgy graphics championed by the fantastic engine, the procedural materials, the amazingly illustrated stickers, and eclectic found art, & nostalgic styles, sack boy and his playful animation and fun customisations combined with the tactile and physical gameplay was just a fantastic cocktail that gave its unique charm. One of the greatest things about LBP was how it exposed how creative its community of players-creators were, and Mediamolecule hired some of its stars to become the beacons of game design helping define its own future.
